I know what I'm doing why would you assume I don't? I
would like to lock it from being changed by others.

How can I Grey out my home page in the registry?

Ok I have to ask: 1. Why are you mucking about in the registry? Unless
you know what you're doing get out and stay out :)

2. Why do you want your homepage "greyed" out anyhow? Embarrased of your
homepage? How about just reset it to a nice safe one and then browse to
whatever page you are so concerned about folks knowing you look at?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control

"HomePage"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control

"HomePage"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explor
er]
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000

??? what registry, the windows registry?

I'm not sure what you are attempting to do. I do know that
you can change you startpage in IE by going to the tab
tools -> internet options and typing in your new address.

If it is a registry issue all I have for MS/internet
settings is a 0x val for proxy enabled. If you know
specifically where this registry entry is I could take a
look at it although I have a number of registry
entries..... and I'm not certain where it is for home
pages however here is one discusion elsewhere which
talked about removing the ABOUT:Blank

http://www.icronticforums.com/showthread.php?t=4098&page=3

as well here is a link to a spyware remover program
although I cant be certain if it is secure.

http://www.spysweeper.com/spyware-remover-download.html

this will allow you to remove adware which may be giving
you a bunch of altered start page loads etc..

I may be able to give you a more specific anwser with some
more information though. As I dont so much know what you
are attempting to do. I just got a visual of a old style
check box where it doesn't come up as an option you can
select.

I'll end the note here as I may be currently being hacked
as I'm getting a bunch of corrupt file notifications.

Dont let others log onto the computer using your account, that will
prevent them from changing your homepage. There are ways to stop scum
sucking websites from changing it also.

Just because you know the word registry and how to get to it
doesn't mean you should be in it. I know far too many people who
read something in a newgroup or webpage about registry this or
registry that and end up hosing thier system.

I don't mean to sound off the wall but, your an &*@#%.
Don't concern yourself with my computers security or what
I'm doing with it. If you don't have a helpful answer
don't reply.
