Grey Screen

I was was typing away on my notebook when all of a sudden the screen turned to a shade of grey. I have tried every setting possible on the control panel. Is there anything else I can do or do I just throw my notebook out the window?

control panel. Is there anything else I can do or do I just throw my
notebook out the window?

Is the battery low? Some portables will dim the screen to conserve battery
power.
