Sorry, don't know the proper terms for anything. Still finding my way around
Vista (Thanks Microsoft for re-naming everything so I can't find it!). I
have this grey drop down menu thing which appears at the top of the desktop
whenever my mouse pointer is i the area. It seems as if it is connected to
the function keys. As soon as I move my mouse to see what the buttons do, it
disappears frustratingly. Is there a way of getting rid of it. Please give
full explanation of what I am looking for - otherwise I get confused!

Doesn't sound like a feature native to Vista. Is this a new OEM computer?
Could be something preinstalled by the OEM.

i know Acer has that annoying thing on the desktop, where you can make a
recovery CDs. It was even in XP

maybe if you post back and gave some information as to what is on that grey drop down menu thing someone might be able to help.

also include what brand of computer it os on. and the version of visa you are using.

I have the same issue. These are called Flash Cards. I have a toshiba Laptop
with vista home premium. This was installed as 'Toshiba Flash Card Utility'.
I removed the program as there appeared to be no configuration or
documentation for it.

Hope this helps.
