i would like to know if anyone can help,my computer keeps freezing up on its
own accord and the only thing i can do is turn it off and then turn it back
on,i check event viewer but there is nothing there i have run a full scan
with norton no virus found and a full scan with adaware no malware or
anything,i am running xp home with ie 7 beta but this problem happened when i
had ie 6 also,i looked in my msinfo 32.exe and the only thing i can find is
under internet explorer there are two files missing;iecont.dll and
iecontlc.dll,is there any chance this could be causing the freezing,i do not
want to totally reformat and reinstall but if this keeps up i might not have
much choice, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Howdy,

Right Click the My Computer icon on desktop. Select Properties.
Next, select Advanced. Look for a block that says Startup and recovery.
Press the settings button.

In System failure section, turn off (un-check) Automatically restart.

Write an event to system log should be Checked (selected).
Apply changes / press OK.

It is very possible Windows got a fatal error, was set to reboot on error,
but cannot proceed. Hence you get a freeze.
