That's crazy. You make the foolish assumption whoever made the last
post in a thread is going to always be the most relevant or useful to
whoever is following the thread or joining a thread that's been in
progress for days.
That would be like reading a recipe backwards. Remove from pan. Bake
at 450 degrees for 20 minutes, stir ingredients, add water, flour,
eggs.
Get it? You don't read bottom to top. You read top to bottom.
You didn't understand what I said, did you? If the average user wants help,
they are looking for a solution in a topic with the problem named in the
title. They are going to ignore the whole silly thread, no matter how many
replies it has, because they are looking for something specific. They are
not interested in reading any arguments from idiots, debates about politics,
or opinions about sports. All they want is to find an answer to their
specific problem. Period. Q&A, not conversational. Get it? So, who made the
foolish assumption? This is Usenet, not some message board or IM chatroom.
