graphics will not load

Good Morning,
I downloaded internet explorer 6 and now on some web
pages the graphics will not load. For example, on the
weather channel's web page I can not view the weather
maps.

I have found that going to "View", "Encoding", then
checking "Western European (Windows)" will load the
graphics.I am running IE6 w/Win 98 and it happens very
often.
