Graphics in reports

Several reports (about 20) in an access database need to contain the company
logo. I had previously inserted the logo as an unbound object, but with a
new logo in place of the old the size of the database increased from about
6000 KB to about 1600 even after Compact and Repair. The image itself is a
..tif of about 10 KB (according to Windows Explorer). I linked to the image
on a network location instead (I used the full network path rather than a
drive letter). It works fine, and the database is much more compact, but I
wonder if I took the best approach. As I understand it an image can be
stored in a table. If so, I could probably link to that rather than to the
external file. What is the best approach? My concern with a linked file of
any kind is that it can be moved. Access 2000, if that matters.

Embed it in a single report that contains nothing but the logo and then
embed that as a subreport in any report where you need the logo. You get
the advantage of embedding, but you are only embedding one copy.

It sounds so simple now that somebody else has thought of it. Thanks. I'll
give that a try tomorrow.

Since my reply I have experimented and discovered that unfortunately it does
not work. All I can see of the subreport is the border. I dragged the
subreport (containing only the logo) onto the main report, but it vanishes in
Report view. I have successfully used subreports before, but they have been
linked through table relationships.

Well I am doing exactly this and it has always worked for me. My experience
was I had a small bitmap of our company logo that was embeded at the top of
a LOT of my reports and one day it occurred to me that perhaps I could
reduce my file size by using the subreport trick. My file size dropped
about 6 MB!

Do you see your image when you preview the subreport by itself?

This morning I started over, and this time it worked. I have no idea why.
Perhaps I had a touch of brain damage yesterday. File size was reduced by
about 10 MB. It's hard to understand why a 20 KB graphic inserted 20 times
can tak up so much room, but there it is. Thanks again.
