I had to reinstall the operating system (Windows XP Home Edition), and after
I had done so the display flickers when I scroll up and down. Also when I try
to play games I just get a blank screen.

I've ran the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and clicked on the 'display' tab. In
the 'device' section it says 'not applicable' next to each heading.

I have no idea what's going on. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!

Reinstall the graphic drivers for your video card or on-board chip set.

Thanks Robert, but how do I find out which drivers I need. I went to the
NVIDIA website and there is a whole list in their archive. But I don't know
which one to use. This has happened before, but the first time my computer
downloaded the driver automatically. This time it doesn't seem as if it will
do that.

If you have no documentation even as simple as the packing box, open the
computer, remove the graphics card, and read the label.

You may be able to tell by opening Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device
Manager/Display Adapters. I'm not sure what you will see with incorrect
drivers but if you are lucky, you will see the name of your display card.

What you want is the latest version (usually) for your card and OS.
Since you posted here, the OS should be WinXP. For most nVidia cards, a
good version will be ForceWare version 84.21 .

I've opened the device manager. Under 'display adapters' it says ATI
Technologies 3D Rage Pro AGP
