When trying to do something on my pc I got a meaasgae
that either Direct X was not up to date or the current
driver was not up to date for the graphics card.
I updated both and got the same message, could someone
please tell me how I find out if the graphics cardd is
not working properly?

And do NOT update drivers from winupdate.
If you did so roll back, and visit the hardware manu.site for latest drivers

I have updated both Direct X and the Device Driver but
still get the same message, is it possible my graphics
card has a fault?

Or it is quite possible that your graphics card does not support the
later version of DirectX. Some cards only support DX 8.1 and earlier.

.
I have went through the Direct X tests and they are all
okay.

But where did you update Device driver from?
Have you tried rolling back this driver?
