I want to use a picture or graphic as a 'faded out' background on which I can add text on top. I have seen it done but don't know how. Any help out there?

PTT, Inc.

Insert your image, right-click on it, select "Format Picture", on the
"Colors and Lines" TAB is a dropdown arrow that allows you to set the image
control as "Washout" (new term for watermark).

Here's another handy method you can try, if you
want to control the amount of transparency
or "fade out" of your picture. (Note: works only
for PPT 2002/2003)

1. Draw an autoshape rectangle in PPT that
approximates the size of your image. (You can
adjust it later.)
2. Right-click on the shape, select Format Autoshape,
and click on the Colors and Lines tab,
Fill box. Select "Fill Effects...".
3. Go to the Picture tab, and click on the "Select Picture"
button. Find your photo and double-click on the file.
4. Click OK.
5. In "Format Autoshape" - Fill - Transparency, you can
now control the amount of "fade out" or "wash out"
of your image!

Enjoy...
