Graphical Word Processor .. where are U?

A great number of word processors, many which permit placing of
pictures, sound bytes, import text, etc.

However ... does anyone know of a simple WP that permits not only simple
text (.txt or .rtf or even .doc files), but allows for dragging open a
field area to any given size .. and then be able to drop in a picture
from buffer, or an .rtf file, etc, and be able to resize such field
window by dragging the corners? To 'grab' the entire sized window and
move it to middle of the page? To place 2 or 3 such windows side by
side?

Maybe this is more like a publishing program ... but, am open to
suggestions for download.

Freeware, of course.

There is a snag in the way that graphics are inserted and rendered in
such a document I think.

If you insert a photo it has the properties of a paragraph in html, so
I haven't figured out how to center a photo or to place two photos
side by side. There might well be a way to do this. I just haven't
discovered it yet.

Otherwise, Atlantis Nova is a tool you'll find useful. It's a
powerhouse at 760k for working with pictures.

The main site dropped the freeware. I used v1.0.0.66 forever and
recommend this version. The newer v1.0.0.68 seems changed only in
directing the user to the shareware version on a new site.

Thanx a bunch for reminding me of about this stellar performer. The
first versions of freeware Atlantis were small .. and the executable is
really a standalone if you want to just put it on a thumbdrive to
conserve room. Waaaay better than Wordpad.

Your explanation of the difficulties involved in placing graphics was
understandable to me. I've seen 'publishing' software that do so, but
they would be far too comprehensive for merely tackling a few family
newsletters per year with pictures, colorful fonts, and messages.

Vector drawing programs can easily import and manipulate text and
images around a page.
