Hi all

I've just upgraded my motherboard and graphics card only to find that my old
adapter won't fit in the new dvi slot (2nd Monitor). Are there 2 types of
DVI slots? If so which one have I got here's a link to a picture of my old
and new card. the new one's the ASUS.

Many thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer

A Newegg review said that connector is DVI-D.

And this picture says basically the same thing.

A DVI-I connector contains both a digital and an analog
output. DVI-I plus "dongle" gives VGA. But a DVI-D
contains only the digital signal. So it is not possible
to connect a VGA dongle to one of those.

The old slot was for a DVI-I cable to be connected to it. The newer card's
connection is a DVI-D. It requires a different cable connection.

Just curious: Does the monitor that you had connected to the old DVD-I
port (and want to now connect to the new DVD-D port) require an analog
input? Or, is your problem resolvable by just getting a DVD-D cable?
