GPOs and shortcut renaming

We have a high school lab setting where policies are in
place shutting the machines down pretty tight. The one
thing we cannot figure out is how to prevent the students
from renaming the desktop icons. The settings that sound
like they would prevent this do not.

It has been my experience that by the time they get to HS, kids are a lot
more computer savvy then you could ever beleive. I have no usefull help for
you. Duct tape their fingers perhaps.

Have you examined the NTFS permissions of the
shortcuts, likely in the All Users\Desktop folder ?
