GPO

HI,

I am new to this GPO stuff, I have a few questions. If I want to push a
package to a Computer, what rights does it need to install the package. Do
I have to share the folder that contains the MSI package?

Thanks

With Software publishing/assigning the user does not need any special rights. They do
need read share and ntfs permissions to the share that is the SDP for the GPO where
you will place the .msi file. Yes you will need to create a share for the.msi package
and it is referred to as the Software Distribution Point. If you want a package
installed on particular computers be sure to configure the policy in the computer
configuration portion of the GPO. The link below explains it very well. --- Steve
