GPO and drive mapping

I have been removing kikstart logon scripts and replacing them with VBS
logon scripts and I have been wondering what is the most efficient way to do
this. Basically I need to have drive mappings based on group membership. As
of now I have 1 logon script for everyone that checks group membership and
maps drives accordingly. I just set the logon script option in the user
properties. But I was wondering if it would be more efficient to set a
default logon script with the default domain policy to map drives that
everyone needs, then create OUs for each group and add the group there and
apply a logon script policy for each OU depending on what they need. How has
everyone out there be doing this and can anyone answer which is the most
efficient method?

Thanks!

The way you propose is the new and recommended way of doing this. The logon
script property of a user object is there for backward compatibility.

I prefer to add a script to a GPO and link the script to an OU and filter if
necessary.

However, an intuitive script could be simply added to a GPO that is linked
to the domain...
