I've seen gpedit mentioned a few times and went to take a look at it out
of curiosity.

A search of my hard drive and of my WinXP OEM disk cannot find it.

I'm on a home machine, single user, no network. Is this why I can't
find it?

I just RUN "gpedit.exe".

My recollection is that it's not available in XP Home.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Well, it's still my recollection it is not included in XP Home, but I am
willing to learn differently. I don't have XP Home to try.

Instead of gpedit.exe, try gpedit.msc which works just fin on my XP Pro
machine.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Just not on home it seems. It's ok. I was just concerned over a
possible "missing" file.

Thanks

Hi Richard,

For Pro: Go to Start/Run and type in: gpedit.msc
It is not available via Home.

Yes, I caught that. Thanks.

I was just concerned that I might have a missing program. No problem.

XP Home does not come with it - and does not have the underlying support
it needs. That is seen as needed in commercial networking, and hence
Pro only
