GP not applying when logging in to a workstation

I have created an OU and applied a new group policy to
that OU. However, the policy is not being applied when
users log into the domain. The workstations are a member
of the domain as are the users. The users are setup with
roaming profiles which are working fine, however login
scripts are not being executed on the workstation nor is
the GP being applied.

I have used gpresult and found that the GP is in fact not
being applied.

Have you put appropriate users/computers on which you want GP to be applied
in the OU that you created?
Also, the users/computers in the OU should have read permissions on the GPOs
so that they can be applied to them.

Yes all of the users and computers are in the OU with the
GP applied to it. They also have read access to the GP as
well as apply GP.
