Google results change

My brother is having a problem with his computer and I
was unable to help him so I'm hoping someone here can
help. When he goes to google.com and searches for
something, good results come up then they all of a sudden
change to different sites that are not really related to
his search. They have the same keywords but the websites
are not good. For example, when he searched for NBA he
got the usual links to the offical site, etc. with
hundreds and hundreds of results then after a few seconds
the results changed to different sites with much fewer
results,only a couple of pages that were horrible. So
far, other search engines seem to be uneffected. He had
some spyware on his computer from, among other things, a
recent install of yahoo messenger/toolbar/pager. I ran
adaware and spybot and removed all the spyware the
programs found but the google problem persists. I've
never seen anything like this before, usually a bug will
redirect you to another search engine not different
results withing the same well-known engine. Any ideas?

My problem was slightly different but it sounds like you may have the
CoolWebSearch hijacker. You might want to go to
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html, then download and run
CWShredder 1.59.1. It worked for me. Your mileage may vary.
