Google Earth, video card incompatibility

I have tried to download Goole Earth, but apparently it is not compatible
with my graphics card. I was wondering if there is any other type of free
program like Google Earth, or if there is any other site out there exactly
like Google Maps where you can slect Satellite images. Basically, I want to
zoom in on satellite images of part of Cuba, the part where I will be staying
for my holidays.

You want sites like keyhole.com. Google Earth is static.

Google bought out Keyhole. What you see on Google is
what you'd see in the formerly-independent Keyhole. I
enjoy Google Earth. My 256 MB nVIDA 5500 graphics
card handles Google with ease.

Google Earth does a fine job with metropolitan US areas,
and other large foreign cities, but when it gets to third-world
countries, Google (and formerly Keyhole) leaves a lot to be
desired. If you're planning on staying in a remote part of
Cuba, all bets are off on it being well-mapped for civilian
use.

Curiosity: Are you an American citizen? If so, is the USA
allowing its citizens to visit Cuba these days? Don't suppose
the USA is too worried about people defecting to Cuba. I
thought we had a travel embargo against Cuba.

I realize there is a trouble shooting section on the site and thats what I
checked... Apparently VooDoo grafhics cards won't do any good with Google
Earth.

You have a Voodoo and you're running XP? I'm amazed and astonished. I
know you Voodoo fans loved your video cards, but c'mon - time to move
up to something wild and crazy like an Nvidia MMX* ;-). Seriously, your
card can't handle the graphics requirements. There isn't any way to get
around that.

*This is a joke; you definitely want something better than MMX.

Malke,

Hi. Was walking the aisles of a bigbox store and on an impulse,
bought a 256 MB nVIDA GEforce 5500 video card to replace
my ancient nVIDA GEforce TI-200 64 MB video card. Did
I make a good investment? The card does a great job handling
Google Earth. Am certain that there are many better cards out there
but didn't want to pay $300 for a Vcard.

"Investment"? No, unless you're not a gamer. Did you buy a good card for
your purposes? Yes, since if your TI made you happy for this long you
are definitely not a gamer. I've got a GeForce 5700 hand-me-down from
one of the kids' boxen in my XP machine and something even less
impressive on my work machine. Since the only game I play on my work
machine is Frozen Bubble and the occasional Tux Racer, that's fine for
me.

The boys have GeForce 6800GT Ultras or something like that, but the
little guy likes his Doom3 and the big guy wants World of Warcraft to
be perfect. And yes, they were $300 video cards because they aren't the
latest/greatest $500 cards. It helps a gamer kid to have a Geek
Mom. ;-)
