I got this article from Paul Thurrott's Supersite for Windows:
http://www.winnetmag.com/windowspaulthurrott/Article/ArticleID/43715/windowspaulthurrott_43715.html

<<As expected, Windows XP Home Edition users started getting the drizzle
download of Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) through Automatic Updates on
Wednesday, but many readers are reporting incredibly slow-moving or even
apparently non-existent downloads. Don't get too excited about receiving SP2
quickly through Automatic Updates, Microsoft warns. At a whopping 30 MB to
80 MB per download, and tens of millions of XP Home customers to satisfy,
it's going to take weeks before many of them complete the download and start
the install. And then there's XP Professional: Those users will have access
to SP2 starting next Wednesday, but again, it will happen over a long time
period, and there are many more XP Pro users than there are XP Home users.
For many, simply downloading the massive 272 MB full network install version
will actually get them SP2 much more quickly than waiting on Microsoft. And
frankly, since simply installing SP2 will better secure your system, maybe
it's time to take matters into your own hands.>>

For these reasons, thousands of reasons already proven and countless
millions of reasons to come, over time many will get fed up will all the
b.s. and simply switch to using Macs.

Because its not like you have a program similar to windows update on a mac
that flashes up downloads to various components that average 50 to 60mb a
month is it? Or perhaps thats just panther on my ibook.

Nah, mac is too expensive for the average user... *nix is a more
cost-effective choice, and since various versions are closer to Windows than
Mac is to Windows, .the transition would probably be less painful.

Plus Apple releases a new operating system almost every year for
$130. Can you imagine the uproar if Microsoft did that?

I also enjoy how the three most recent Mac operating systems have minor
versions, yet cost full price... why they stopped at 10.1.5 and decided to
charge for 10.2 is beyond me. Oh well, at least I know they'll never get my
money, not for their OS or their highly priced machines.

If one can not get Windows configured, they damn sure won't
even get the disk partitioned, let alone configured using Linux.
