Go To in Word 2003

GO TO keeps coming up on screen.
I am using Word 2003 and frequently the GO TO box will come up on the screen
when a key is pressed and will keep coming up although the Closed button is
clicked. There seems to be no real set of keys that prompt this but
Enter/Space and U seem to be common. If you press Esc it will close but
still comes back. Sometimes allowing it to do a search & then pressing Esc
seems to work. I have an up to date Norton & do a virus check each couple of
days & nothing has come up. Is there a way to disable GO TO in Word? Or
have I set up a function process unwittingly?
thanks Guys.

If you start Word in Safe Mode (hold down the Ctrl key when starting it up),
does the problem still appear?

Does it occur in just certain documents, or all documents?

Hello Cindy. Not sure about Safe Mode but as the problem is intermittent
(but frequent) it might take a while to find that out. I will have a go at
it today & see what I come up with.

It doesnt seem to occur in all documents and I may go for a while without it
happening. It does occur even in New documents however. Once a New document
is chosen & opened it can start in one or two keystrokes. It can be
neutralised (mostly I think) with asking it to go to a fictitious page &
pressing Esc once it fails to find the entry. Thanks for your willingness
to help, its much appreciated. Les

Can't say I've ever seen anything like this, so my thinking is either

1. You have a stuck F5 key

2. You've assigned some other key combo to GoTo that's getting stuck

3. There's an Addin, somewhere, that a particular key combination is activating

4. (Most likely, based on what you tell us, above) Since Word 97 or 2000, a
number of "GoTo" functions have been assigned to the "little silver ball" at the
bottom of the vertical scroll bar. As soon as you use one of these searches, the
Alt+Page keys (I think it's Alt) that used to "page" through a document trigger
a "GoTo" next or previous action.
