Was in the heart of it in January (NY), wasn't so bad.
You know what they say about NY, don't you? Great place to visit but
I'd hate to live there.
For all the problems this country has- so many still
want to come live here, even die trying to get here.
It is the main reason why this country continues to
grow at an astonishing rate. Many European countries
are growing so slowly or even shrinking, that a social
implosion is not far off. How long before some European
countries collapse under the weight of social welfare without
the ability to replace young workers? France is even paying
couples to have babies. They now have a better birth rate.
But, other European countries aren't so lucky. Of course, the
falling birth rates across Europe have presented another problem
for some when combined with the massive immigration of Muslims-
the reshaping of many communities throughout Europe. All the utopian
ideals you seem to think emanate from Europe,
will mean nothing if nobody is there but a bunch of grayed haired
retired folks sitting around wondering where have all the children
gone. Especially, if most of children that are around, are being taught
Sharia law.
You can call it alarmist, whatever you want. Crunch the numbers, look
at the birth rates, and then see where the majority of immigration is
coming
from. The EU have done their own studies, the details are out
there. It's not
a pretty picture if things stay the same. Deep down, I think you
know that.
The US has a healthy birth rate and a never ending supply of people
wanting
to come here. Even though immigration is a hot topic in this
country, and
the US does need to control it a bit better, I would take growth any
day over
slowly withering away.

Um, the EU has immigration from Eastern Europe, Latin America, the
Orient, the Middle East, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Africa. There
are over four million immigrants in Spain alone. The reason these
people want to emigrate is not because they want to live in Europe or
the USA but because they want to EAT. Ask any recent Mexican arrival
if he or she would rather live in Mexico with a decent job or the USA
with a decent job and the answer will always be "Mexico". Take a trip
to South Central LA and tell me how "American" that is. I hope you
speak Spanish because no one there speaks English.
My best friend and his family are from Colombia... I made numerous trips
with him to Miami when he was fighting deportation, and then again to gain
US citizenship.
Yeah, he wanted to be able to eat and knew what would await him in Colombia.
My mother's grandparents were from Peru. You don't know me, you don't
have a clue.... only assumptions.
Familial emigration is different than sneaking across the border because
one is starving.
You are so predictable. I never said "We are the greatest county in the
world".
Not in those words but, in essence, you did.
Oh, it's *country* not "county". When did you become so jaded and bitter?
Picky, picky. Jaded? Bitter? No, realistic. Why would I want to live in
there?
We (the US) aren't any more special than other people on this planet...
my blood is the same color as yours. I bet you laugh, cry, and feel pain
just as I do.
Glad you realize that. BTW, I was born in the USA, in the same state as
my mother was.
Enjoy Spain. It is a beautiful country filled with wonderful people.
Take care,
Michael
