GMT causing machine to slow down

I have a box running XP Pro. The machine is very
sluggish when performing local tasks as well as network
related tasks. I noticed that a process called GMT is
using 5-10 % of the processor utilization. When I kill
the process, the machine functions much better.
What is the GMT process and is it necessary?

GMT? Yuk!! I think this is a piece of spyware, by Gator Corporation.

Download, install and run Adaware:

Follow the on-screen prompts, and remove this **** from your system. You
will probably find quite a bit of other trash too.
