Global catalog replication

I have made an addtional DC a global catalog server in
preparation for demoting our current DC. How long should
I wait before proceding with dcpromo? On the new DC/GC
server I have received the 1119 event ID stating that the
server is now a global catalog server. So am I ready to
demote?

Are you going demote your first DC ? if yes, have you transfer the FSMO
Roles to your new DC ? How's your DNS ? you have to check all this things
before you procede to demote your first domain controller. How long you must
wait before you can demote your first DC ? It depends on your new DC, if you
found that everythings works fine, solid and rock, you can remove your first
DC. Good Luck

Make sure you reboot after you get the 1119. It doesn't enable everything until
after the reboot.

Tranfered all FSMO roles successfully. DNS looks
identical to the first DC. Rebooted after making all
changes and the new DC looks good. Anything else I
should check before I run DCPROMO?
