Giant vs other antispyware

J

JJ Hey

Believe me, I am the last person to stick up for
microsoft. But, being as I used this product briefly when
it was Giant Antispyware (I only stopped because I didn't
want to pay the subscription just yet), I wanted to post
this link showing some tests of Giant versus other
antispyware apps and how they all did finding and removing
spyware:

http://spywarewarrior.com/asw-test-guide.htm

If you click on some of the Test Results and scroll to the
bottom you can see how Giant did compared to some of the
others such as Adaware and SpybotS&D. Despite some of the
postings here, it's really not a bad product from this
perspective (I don't remember the Giant trial being as
buggy as this MS version but who knows). In fact, it did
better than most of the others.

The fact is, no single product solution is capable of
defeating all spyware. It takes good end-user practices,
and use of multiple defenses (antispyware, antivirus, IE
security or use of another browser, some of the immunizing
tools, etc). I for one am glad to be able to use Giant
again (as MSAS now) as another tool in my arsenal.

I don't know if it will stay free, but I'll cross that
bridge when I get there :)
