Hi.
Today I tried to add a user (let's say Bonnie) to my Windows XP Home. It
failed for some arbitrary reason (Windows was doing many things at the same
time). It doesn't matter to me why it failed, I was able to add another
user later on.

But what was strange was that when I tried to add Bonnie again, Windows
refused to add her, pretending that the user already exist.
There was no icon for that user in the login screen. There was no icon for
that user in
Configuration Panel -> users; the user wasn't present either on the
interface that you get via
Run -> cmd -> control userpasswords2.

Then I switched to the "old" login box (like the one in Win2000). I was able
to login with the name and password of Bonnie! Thereafter Windows created a
home directory for Bonnie, but when I switched back to the graphical login
screen, there was still no icon for Bonnie.

The only way I found to tidy this mess was to roll back to a restore point.

So my question finally: what are all the places in which Windows XP stores
the informations about users?
TIA

Perhaps the users folder was created in C:\Documents and Settings etc..

No, the folder was only created after I logged in through the old login
interface. And after the folder was created, there was still no icon for
Bonnie in the graphical login screen or in the configuration panel.

The "C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name" structure won't be created until the newly created
user logs on to the PC.

Try safe mode, logon as default administrator.
