Ghost Application Running

When shutting down system, windows says to shut down current applications. When going to task manager, no applications are running. I believe when Outlook closes it must be running somewhere in the background. How do I check and shut down application not listed in taks manager?

You can try looking at the processes Tab of Task Manager. It shows some
programs that are not shown on Application Tab. Becareful with killing
processes though. Some of these are crusial for your system to run.
