Word and Corel applications are not free; you may download a 60-day trial
edition at http://www.microsoft.com/office/trial/default.mspx. Corel.com
has a 30-day trial of WordPerfect office.

If you are looking for something totally free, try Openoffice.org. But, i'd
go with MS Office. There are many editions available, and the cheapest is
if you are a Student.

You can go buy them..
Or get OpenOffice.

That's normal. Computers usually come with an operating system, but no other
significant application programs. Some vendors bundle additional software
with their offerings, but not all do.

I want to know how I can download microsoft
word or wordperfect? Is it possible?

No. They are both commercial programs for sale, and are not legally
available for download anywhere.

If so then were? I really hate
wordpad and notepad they suck.

No, they don't suck. They are fine for their intended uses. They are text
editors, and aren't meant to be word processing programs. If you are trying
to use them as word-processing programs, they will of course be
unsatisfactory, but that's not what they are.

Either buy Word or WordPerfect, or try the free OpenOffice or the
inexpensive StarOffice.

It seems strange. Years ago when I wanted a software application I'd go to
the store and see what there was available. Am I a dinosaur? No one thinks
like that anymore?

You buy those programs. They are not free.

Visit your local office supply store or appliance store. They will have
what you want for sale.

Neither are legitimately available for download.

1) Go to store/shop that sells computer software.

2) Purchase either Microsoft Word, the Microsoft Works Suite, the
Microsoft Office suite, or an equivalent product containing WordPerfect..

3) Return home.

4) Insert installation CD in PC's CD drive and follow the on-screen
prompts and instructions to install application and desired additional
features.

If you want to download a free office application, not as
nice as MS OFFICE but generally compatible, try Open Office
from www.openoffice.org

In some ways OpenOffice.org is better than MS Office. For example you
can save documents directly as PDF files. Document and spreadsheet file
sizes are generally smaller than their Office counterparts.

I use the CutePDF free version as my default printer, works
for anything, WORD, email or even web pages. My printers
are in the bedroom on the LAN and if I want to make a hard
copy, I select the laser or inkjet.

Generally smaller? I have been using OO for almost a year and
I have never seen a OO file that is not at least two thirds
smaller. I guess this doesn't necessarily mean that they will
always be smaller, but I haven't run into one that isn't ... yet.

Another two cents . . .
