We bought a used computer with windows xp professional on
it. It was used as a networked office computer. When we
try to turn it on, windows doesn't want to start because
it is still looking for it's server. Is there a way to
tell it to stop that and just be a "local" conputer. It
also has password issues, but we think we figured them
out. Not sure though. Also, could we just reinstll
windows and bypass all these problems?

Hello deb,

I think reinstalling Windows Xp would be the fastest way.

If there's a quicker way someone do comment :)

You will need to boot up in SAFE mode. As soon as your
PC starts to boot, start clicking F8, that should put you
in SAFE mode. You do NOT need to reinstall XP. Go to
Start/ControlPanel/Network and Internet Connections to
delete or uninstall the connections.
Copy and paste below URL to your browser for more info on
how to start SAFE mode.

Actually, I disagree. I think the OP has the right idea to clean install
Windows. There will be other office-related stuff on there they won't
want and it will be better to start off clean.
