On my HP laptop running Windows XP Home, any time a Windows program is on,
the "getting started with" or help screen pops up indiscriminately, making me
have to stop everything to close it before I can continue with work or play.
Sometimes this happens 3 times successively before I can go on. How can I
make this stop? Thanks for your help.

Wesley, thanks so much for replying. I did all the steps to supress the
prompt for the current user and for all users (since I am the main one). No
difference. The changes show up when I go back into Regedit.exe. I restarted
the machine. No difference. I'm running the home version and your article
was about pro--does that matter?

Caroline,

Are you getting a balloon prompt for the Windows Tour?

If not...

This program might be something that HP puts on their machines and is not
something that I even have on my machine. I have heard of it before, but I
can't remeber the name of it.

This is MS software, but MS only makes it available to OEMs.

I would contact HP Support and see how to uninstall it.

Sorry that I can't help more, but I can't even remember what the dang
thing's called. ;-(
