Getting rid of the second xp

I have upgraded my windows Xp home using the cd that came with my Dimension
3000.Every thing seemed to go alright despite it not installing half of the
drives ect which i managed to fix using the resource cd.
The problem i have is some how i have installed 2 versions of it one on my
admin page and a copy some where else.
I get a error message saying please wait there is another version of XP
running wait until signed out.
How do i uninstall the program i dont want?I would really appreciate some
help with this because it is taking up room on my hard drive costing me
memory.
