Getting rid of new search bar

S

Steven Buroff

MS installed a new "intelligent explorer" (search) bar. How do I get rid of
it?
I can remove it on a particular instance of IE but it will appear again each
time
I start a new instance. I can't find anything in the options to get rid of
the damn
thing.

Hi Steve -

I don't believe MS "installed the search bar", but that is not important.

Enter the term Intelligent Explorer or scroll down to article "MY ADVENTURES

you'd think that microsoft would have plugged the holes
that allow all these search bars to install so easy. but
then again people just love to click on anything that pops
up in front of them and not bother reading. but the enable
install on demand should of been changed to not allow auto
install.

You have a valid point on the "don't permit auto-install" as a default
setting. ;-) As for the rest, it is near impossible to remedy, just as
murder is. There are myriad laws and so forth, but it still happens. As long
as there are people... it's the same thing.

Now, IE is the most popular browser around, ergo the most users, therefore
the greatest weakness is from that standpoint alone. If it were not the most
used browser, the vermin would focus on the one which was. This stands to
reason in my view. If most persons would do the following (amongst other
things) the situation would not be so bad as it presently is.

Internet Explorer Privacy & Security Settings

And spend as much time investigating the info in a site such as this (one of
a hundred + sites) as they do File swapping and looking for "free games",
clicking on whatever appears, etc.:
Protecting Your Privacy & Security

Then there would be 25% less posts in this Newsgroup. :-D
