Getting Mail on Startup?

Hi,
I just reinstalled Outlook from Office XP and i cannot
get Outlook to get my mail when i open the program.

Running XP Pro with a cable connection.

Anyone know where this setting is?

Tools, Options, Mail Setup, Send- Receive button to set up automatic mail
checking for every xx minutes. It will check for mail at startup without
selecting the Send Immediately option. I don't like that setting because it
is too quick to send unfinished/incorrect emails.

I'm the only one on this machine with one acct.
Have you had any luck getting the scheduled
tasks to stick? I know it took a lot of doing to
get this version to go online (start) once in the
morning to get the mail.

Any suggestions appreciated,
