After a few minutes online, I get an error message that
says session is being ended due to "NT Authority System"
and something about RCP. It then times me out after 60
seconds. Any ideas?

It is hard to know for sure with a symptom described as "and something
about RCP" Assuming you ment RPC...and without knowing what the "something"
is... It likely is the Blaster Worm. See:

I am getting the same RPC (remote procedure call) error. It has been happening since I opened the box o
my new Sony Vaio with XP Home pre-installed. I started trying to download updates last night and it consistenl
gets the error during the download. It seems to happen only downloading or when Explorer is (I guess
trying to execute an RPC.

THIS IS A REAL PAIN! How do I download the fix to a new system when it keeps going down. It makes m
wonder if the system came with the virus (if that is what is the cause). This is my first XP system - I a
very concerned

Any help
