getting an English language installation

O

Owen Powell

I'm living in South Korea at the moment, and bought a new
laptop here from Samsung. The only trouble is that my OS
is all in Korean (the CD I received is in Korean too).
How do I get Microsoft to send me an English version of
WindowsXP? Is this possible? I am not too impressed with
Microsoft support at the moment. It seems to be next to
impossible to get in touch with anyone.

Thanks for any tips you can give me about getting the CD
or getting in touch with someone who can help me.

Greetings --

To get an English CD, simply purchase an English version of the
operating system. Surely you didn't expect Microsoft to just give you
a free copy, did you?

I thought that the purchase of a Korean license entitled
me to other languages as well. I guess not; since I don't
feel like purchasing XP twice, I'll have to pursue "other
means" of acquiring the software.

What a hassle, *sigh*.

Not a very helpful answer from Mr. Chambers (as usual). Since you're
in Korea it should be a simple matter to "trade" your legal copy of
Korean XP for an English copy. As a matter of fact, I'm surprised
you didn't ask for an English version when you purchased your Samsung.

Anyway, ask around where you are. You should be able to come up with
something. As for MS Product support, if you were here in the US you
could get two free phone support calls, however, the best support you
will receive is right from here. (Mr. Chambers, excepted.)

Taking offense at correct answers, now, are we? I can't help it
if it wasn't what the OP wanted to hear; the truth isn't always
pleasant, you know.
