getting admin password

I am the only user of this box running xp pro with sp2 and have admin
privilages. I am trying to repair xp, but the cd asks for the admin
password. I am the only user, have admin privilages, but don't have a
password. What do I do? Can I create an admin user with a password? I
tried to do that using the regular user link in the control panel, but that
password did not work either.

thanks

If XP was pre-installed then it's odds-on that the password is blank, ie
don't put anything in it at all. If *you* installed it, then it would have
asked you for an Administrator password during the install process.

First try leaving the password blank,if that doesn't help:

From "http://www.theeldergeek.com"
Recovery Console Password-
On many XP installations you can't start the Recovery Console because it
won't recognize your password. This registry edit causes the Recovery Console
not to ask for a password. This works for both XP Home and XP Professional.
Start | Run | Regedit
Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Setup\RecoveryConsole
Set the DWORD SecurityLevel value to 1
Exit Registry and Reboot

Also the "Repair" option is NOT your best choice look here

You have a user account with admin rights but it is asking for the
password for the built in Administrator account.

Most of the time this will be blank on an OEM machine. If you
installed XP yourself though, you were asked during the setup process
to supply a password for this account. The password it is asking for
is that one.
