GETTING A WINMAIL.DAT ERROR ON E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS USING OUTLOOK...

MY ATTACHMENTS ARE NOT FORWARDED WITH OUR E-MAILS. THE PERSON TO WHOM THE
E-MAIL IS ADDRESSED RECEIVES A WINMAIL.DAT FILE. WE HAVE TRIED HTML AND TEXT
FORMATS. STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM

APPRECIATE ANY HELP TO SOLVE.

Change the message format to Plain Text or HTML - don't use Rich Text.

Also - please lose the caps lock - it's hard to read & is considered
"shouting". Thanks.

Listen, you people need to find another solution to this problem. I have had
the same problem for nearly a year and this is the only answer you have. I
have also changed format to HTML and plain text and the problem is still
there. Does anybody have a new answer. This one does not work.

Do you realize that "us people" answer questions on this forum voluntarily
(i.e. for free!) ? generally if there is no answer to an issue or there is
only one way known to solve it then there isn't much that can be done about
it. The workaround that was posted that you replied to generally WILL fix
the problem, a workaround admittedly but one that usually works.

I apologize for the general terms that I used. I should have directed it to
those with the "MVP" after their names. This is a serious problem with my
employer and the solutions presented by these experts do not work. I have
made all of the changes including changing the default editor and sending
everything in plain text. I wish someone who works for Microsoft would solve
this problem. Sorry again for painting with such a broad brush, my
frustration is shwoing through.

Right - I have just solved the problem ON MY COMPUTER. Apparently there can
be other things that affect this.

STEP 1
Set default sending format to HTML in TOOLS | OPTIONS | Mail Format

STEP 2
Open a contact, right-click on their email address field and click PROPERTIES.
In the box displayed, change INTERNET FORMAT to LET OUTLOOK CHOOSE THE BEST
SENDING FORMAT.

Unfortunately, I havent found a way to apply this to all in one go, so it
needs to be done for EVERY contact that has this problem
