get rid of 'pencil' on some icons in 'folders list'

hello there!

i am a relative newby at front page and i have been setting up a navigation
bar using the 'include' system (the host programme i am with does not accept
extensions, etc.) in the first test i did everything worked just fine.

but for some reason , suddenly, in my folders list, many of my folders have
what looks like the little 'pencil' (that is usually used as the mouse
pointer when we want to creat our own table or cell) placed on the icon for
each folder and i have tried many things but cannot get rid of this pencil.
if i make new folders, they immediately have the pencil on them too.

any advice would be VERY gratefully received indeed!

with best wishes,

miranda

Go to My Computer > Control Panel and see if you have TweakUI installed.
If so open it, go to the Repair tab and repair Icons.

The pencil means you have that page opened for editing.

Rob, thank you very much for answering!

.....but, why, when i delete all sites, using the 'delete this web entirely'
option, when i go to create a new website, the 'browse' box is not empty, but
has this old , example site - My Garden Co5 ...6 ...7 etc. in it? ....ok, i
am going to go back and have another go and will report back!

maybe that means that my ENORMOUS problem is a
(non-existent!) one. ( if so, must be a lesson there somewhere??!)

Yer welcome.
"Some" enormous problems ARE non-existant!

It could be you are trying to create a new website with the same name as an
old one and FP is tagging on the incremental numbering. Dunno, I've never
had that happen.

FYI, you can name your webs/sites on your local machine anything you
want...Fred1, Fred2, Fred3...it doesn't matter...it only matters when you
publish that you publish to the correct url.

Thank you very much, Rob, for all the good info!!

i have now uploaded a test page with no problems and i would like to thank
everybody for helping. (if there was a smiley facility to this forum, i
would use the 'embarrased' one) but the good part is that i have found this
'ace' forum - and they are quite hard to find!! (i seem to have posted 3
times for this problem but now know my way around, so it won't happen again)

all the best
