I'm on a win2k machine with German as the istalled language. I'd like
to be able to switch the language between English and German. Not
merely switch the keyboard, or even IE default language, but the whole
system, including error messages, the menu language, etc. I don't know
if this is possible.

PS I've tried adding English as the local language default, and
setting IE default language, and can toggle between an English and
German keyboard layout. But error messages still appear in German, a
language I don't know. (I'm trying to help my German girlfriend who is
computer shy).

You cannot do this - each version of Windows is language-specific.
You would need to create a multi-boot environment, with two versions
of Win2000 installed: One in English, the other in German.
