Hello all, i get the above mentioned error each time i start windows xp pro.
Now if i do not connect the to the network first, Meaning.., network cable or
wireless, after the log in it just sits there at the users desktop, and there
is no access to do anyhting at all. I fi connecte either the network cable or
activate the wireless i then get Generic Host Process for Win32 Services
error. If i leave it sit for like 10 mins sometimes i get my desktop back,
sometimes not.... When looking in teh event logs i see this....

Event ID 1004 Type Error Catagory 100 sourece application error
Application svchosts.exe version 5.1.2600.2180, module msvcrt.dll version
7.0.2600.2180 address 0x00037fd4

I am translating from french, so sorry if i missed anything...

once i get my desktop working after the login with that error, i can surf
the web no problem, but can not access MS exchnage server which is local here
and can not browse any files on our windows 2003 server...

This problem is so far on one PC Which is a Dell inspiron 1150

any suggestions? any more info i should post?

I did 54 scans of antivirus just to be sure as some articles suggested to do
this... all scans came up fine

Thanks..

If you made any changes to the system before that started to happen, try
reversing them - if necessary in Safe Mode, which you can access by
repeatedly pressing the F8 key at startup to bring up the boot menu.

Alternatively, you could try restoring a System Restore restore point that
predates the problem.

You access System Restore under All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools.

if boot in safe mode with networking i do not have this issue on boot up,
however i can not access local file servers or MX Exchnage either, so i am ot
sure if thsi si due to safe mode(allthough i did select safe mde with
networking)

I guess i can alwys try sytem restore but i do nto want to undo everythign i
have done over the last 2 weeks?

Thanks for replying so quickly!
