i have an instance with outlook xp... recently my outlook has slowed down
dramatically. Could it be because there are over 8200 emails stored in the
inbox?
is there a limit to the amount that can be stored in the inbox?
the computer is a laptop with celeron 1.1Ghz and 256MB RAM with 7GB free
space on the hard drive.

thanks

outlook 2002 can store up to 65,000 items... or 2GB in file size. While more
items = some slowness and more ram will help (256 meg is on the low side for
outlook- fortunately even notebook ram is fairly cheap), 8200 isn;'t all
that many. But if you want, you can either use autoarchive to reduce it or
just move older mail to another folder.

It is never a good idea to use your Inbox to *store* messages. After a
message is read, if you want to keep it, try moving the messages to folders
that you create. For example, create a folder named "Saved" and move all of
the messages from your Inbox there and see if that helps.
