GDIplus.dll not found

I am suddenly getting error message in Quickbooks and Norton AV that "This
application failed to start becasue gdiplus.dll was not found"

This appears to be a system file of some sort. I uninstalled and reinstalled
the programs but same error message comes up.

Is there some way to recover these dll files.

I found that site and tried to copy the dll file to the 2 locations where it
was found to be

x86_Microsoft.Windows.GdiPlus_6595b64144ccf1df_1.0.0.0_x-ww_8d353f13

and
x86_Microsoft.Windows.GdiPlus_6595b64144ccf1df_1.0.10.0_x-ww_712befd8

but that did not work. the system poped up a box that said that winXP SP1
Disk shoul be inserted and (I guess reinstalled)

After I reinstalled Win xp from the disks that came with my computer things
started working afain and Xp reinstall did not seem to trash any of the
installed programs so I was happy about that.
