The update itself could have contained a virus.

I've heard the latest tricks involve modifying the
code so that updates are actually infections, and
once the code is compromised, all computers that get
the updates are infected.

If you are the victim of an ARP Attack, you're update
may appear to originate from the requested server, but
instead be sent from what's known as a man in the middle.

I would uninstall it because it may be infectious.
