'GbxResult unchecked in destructor' when playing Nightfire

My son has been playing Nightfire on PC, which after some initial fun
with corrupted display cured by latest drivers has been playing OK.

He has got to the point on level 5 'High Treason' where he uses the
mobile 'phone grappler to get up to the walkway. The splash screen
appears as the next bit loads but there is a windows gong sound and if
you click anything the game crashes out leaving the error message:

GbxResult unchecked in destructor
ResultValue [0x4a0a0002]
Success flag: [False]
Project: [0xa]
Error number: [0xa000002]
osError: [oxfffffffd]

I can't find any references to this error anywhere. Anyone know what
it means!?

The system in use is an Athlon Thunderbird based system, 1100MHz, 512
MB RAM, Sapphire Radeon 9000, SB Platinum Live.

I have already downloaded the latest drivers and version of DX in
order to get the game running correctly in the first place. It did the
same with DB 8.1 and updated to 9.0b.

any suggestions much appreciated.
