Gateway Monitor Recall...?

Own a Gateway flat screen? Then you own a defective monitor that will
go dead in about 12 months. Worse still, if it's out of warranty,
Gateway will do nothing to replace or repair it.

But don't take my word for this. Do a Google search and you'll find
that people with these monitors are saying they don't last beyond 12
months.

Anyway, join us.

Go to the website below and tell us about your experience with your
Gateway monitor.

Also, leave a way of contacting you.

This may take some time, but we've got to get Gateway to acknowledge
their monitors are defective and to fix the problem.

Thanks

What is the defect, *specifically*? And which Gateway monitors are you
talking about?

If it's out of warranty, and the monitor dies, you're out of
luck unless you can demonstrate that there is a specific defect
in manufacturing that the company should have known about.

Your post here (and on your blog) is so vague it's almost meaningless.

I have no idea why the monitor went dead, all I know is that these
montiors are going dead at about one year -- just out of warranty.
People are saying this all around the net. I have a lawyer friend
who'll start a class action suit if I can get enough people. Please go
to the site I reference above if you have a gateway montor.

What I asked was: what MODELS of monitor go dead? Gateway has
sold dozens of different models of monitor, built by different
manufacturers with different components, over the years.

Like where?

Hey, I hear that a lot of those automobile things they build in the
midwest have mechanical problems. Sometimes right out of warranty.
Could your friend start a class-action suit for this too, please?

Also, I had some milk in my fridge once that smelled bad a few days
after the expiration date. I sure wish I'd sued Safeway!

Actually, there was a world-wide issue with "bad capacitors" from one
(or several) specific Asian manufacturers a while back - Electrolytics not
properly built, not caught by QC, and going dry after about a year or so
of use - a number of Asian sourced computer peripherals, not just monitors,
were affected.
As I recall, most "reputable" (and, solvent, BTW) companies did go out
of their way to help resolve customer issues... YMMV.
So, ifn y'all wantsa class action suit - track down da cap company &
start
there.... 'Course, ain't gonna be a trivial trackin' job..... Google can
likely help.

(Yeah - I know - not much help, other than educating!)
