I've got a Gateway machine just past its 90 day refurbished warranty and the
mobo conks out.....

I intend to replace it with an Asus mobo, so when I do, I will have to use
the Gateway reinstall package.

Question is, will the Gateway reinstall package be proprietary? In the sense
that it won't go ahead with the Asus motherboard?

I know Dells and HPs are this way, but am not sure on Gateway....

Thanks,

Gordon

Gateway does use BIOS locking so it probably won't install.

Almost certainly, but ask Gateway to be sure.
