I just bought a Linksys Wireless-G WAG54G ADSL Gateway for use in
my home compurers network. I am running Windows XP Pro on my
desktop and my laptop, and Windows XP Home edition on my wife's
kitchen computer. I want to link them all together to share my
IBM Infoprint 8 laser printer, and also to share the SW Bell
phone line DSL connection that we have.
My desktop will be the admin computer, if I can get it to
recognize the Linksys Gateway. This has been a problem! The other
computers will be wireless linked through this new Gateway. My
desktop computer will not be wireless linked. It is hooked
driectly to the Gateway by a network cable that came with the
Synksys Gateway package.
This computer is a home built, using an AZUS P2-B MB, an Intel
Pentium III 500 MHz processor and 256 MB RAM. It has a 120 GB
hard drive with only a very small portion in use. It is working
very well in all respects.
I have set the Linksys Gateway up and tried to get my IE 6.0
browser to open the Gateway's default address,
http://192.168.1.1/ so I could complete the setup. No go! I just
get the error message stating, "This page is not available."
The only thing I can think of that may be causing a hang-up is
that I have a Kingston KNE 110TX/100B Ethernet card in my
computer, and have been trying to use this to access the new
gateway. This ethernet card works fine with my old Speedstream
5660 Router/Modem, but doesn't seem able to communicate with the
new Linksys Gateway.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
