Gaming & Security Settings

I have multiple users on a Win2k pro machine. I have installed a
number of games for the other users. I have two specific problems
with this.

1. Certian games I am able to ONLY play while in the administrator
login, and not in any other login... even though I have changed the
security settings for each user to be able to access the files,
folders, and CD's necessary to play the game... It won't let them
play.

2. After installation of certain games, (even while in Administrator
login) the computer (not the game) will tell me that It can't find the
cd and to re-insert the cd and re-try. I've installed the game, can
view it completely, but it seems that the security settings are not
allowing the exe file to be executed. Is this a compatibility issue
or is this sound like a security setting which I just need to address?

Help... Help... Help...

if the game saves temporary files of settings the users may need access to
write to certain folders. some programs may also open databases for reading
and writing, so the user may need full access instead of just read.

also, if settings are saved in the registry the user may need read and/or
write access to the proper branch of the registry tree.

some programs want to verify that you have the original cd and may ask for
it to be inserted for verification... i hate stuff like that. there are
also some programs that don't install everything on the hd and need the cd
to run. check the installation process and see if you missed an option to
put everything on the hd.

p.s. try temporarily making the users members of the power users group or
administrators group and see if that fixes it, if so then look for more
access permissions to change. if it doesn't then try installing from the
user's account while they are an administrator and see if that fixes it,
there maybe some settings that are saved only for the user who installed it.
