gaming problem

I have been trying to run a game on my computer that worked before but now it
tells me that it needs at least 12mb of virtual memory to run. My computer is
only half full for disk space and I should have plenty of virtual memory
available but can't get the game to run no matter what i try. There are 3,
sometimes 4 kids who are on this computer from time to time so I don't know
if someone deleted a file or something or what the problem may be. Would
appreciate any and all help. Thanks.

Right click "My Computer", select properties, go to Advanced tab, click the
settings button under performance, click advanced tab, under virtual memory
click change.
What is your page file set to? Set it to system managed and reboot.

I think I tried that before but will give it another try. And the game says
it needs at least 12mb of VIDEO memory, not virtual memory, sorry for the
mistake. Thanks for the quick reply, will let you know what happens.

Yup, that's an entirely different animal. What do you have for a video card,
how much ram?
Have you tried reinstalling the video drivers?

ATI doesn't tell me much, there are thousands of different models. 1GB is
your system RAM, how much ram does the graphics card have?

Well let's see, my graphics card is an ATI Radeon X800 XL with 256MB DRAM
256Kx16 memorey. Anything other then that, you're dealing with someone who is
a computer newbie. Believe me, I need help.

I'll try that thanks, it's Grand Theft Auto 3 that I'm having the problem
with. It was working fine before but now it says it needs at least 12mb of
available video memory, what changed from before I don't know. I tried
restoring to an earlier time when it was working but no luck there.

The game I am attempting to run is Grand Theft Auto 3. It was working fine
but then something happened. What changed I am not sure. I tried restoring to
an earlier time when all was fine but no go, didn't work. Will try
downloading the latest drivers for my card but downloading a 44.5 MB file on
dial up could just take awhile, will let you know how it works out. Thanks
for your help.
