All depends on the EULA agreement. Typically click on the
Tools menu and "about" to find the EULA. Or contact the
game publisher. General rule, you can only have installed
on one machine at a time. But games may allow on your
desktop machine and a portable for LAN parties.

agreement that comes with yours.
But in general, yes, you can transfer most software (withth eexception of
OEM versions) from one computer to another (the fact that one is a laptop
and the other a desktop is irrelevant).
